Getting
Started
Mandell
Lead Inspectors, Inc. has designed this site to offer you information
on the hazards of Lead Paint.
We
have been in business since 1996 specializing in Lead Paint Inspections
and Risk Assessments. We have inspected thousands of homes and
unfortunately found that many since that time, have been contaminated
and the dwellers poisoned. Our goal in designing this web site
is to deal simply with the everyday issues we encounter and hopefully
prevent even one person from being poisoned. We also offer links
to many technical sites that will supply you with detailed information
about Laws and Research on Lead Paint if that is what you desire.
Our
employees are Licensed Lead Inspectors / Risk Assessors and our
policy is that once you do an inspection with us, you are a customer
for life. We offer technical assistance throughout your ownership
of that property on any Lead issue that arises. We also can work
with you and your contractors to help guide them through the process
of using safe procedures. Again our goal is to prevent Lead
Poisoning.
Our
equipment is state of the art XRF analyzers as shown on Inspections.
This instrument offers a more thorough assessment that many of
the instruments used by our competitors in that it tells us information
on lead paint up to three inches deep. This is important to an
inspection because you may be removing existing paneling, repairing
a leak that is covered by sheetrock over original plaster, or
simply doing renovations. If you do not know this information
you can still poison your family even if the painted surface is
currently covered because these events will disrupt the paint
and cause the release of lead dust.
Relying
on a painter or contractor to take the proper precautions is a
reason why many people are poisoned. It is a homeowner's or Landlord's
responsibility to know what conditions exist in your home and
then to obtain assistance in instructing your contractors, in
the methods required to insure your safety.
Isn't
Lead Poisoning only an inner city problem? This is probably
the most untrue belief that people hold about lead poisoning.
Most children do not eat paint chips. Children are most oftened
poisoned by inadvertently putting things with lead dust in their
mouth (i.e. fingers, cheerios, toys). Lead dust can be created
by either simply opening a window, doing a renovation (home improvement)
or improperly sanding paint.
The
information contained on this web site has been taken from the
EPA Pamphlet "Protect Your Family From Lead In Your Home", NJ
State Sanitary Code Chapter XIII, and from the Housing and Urban
Development (HUD) Guidelines.
